As the World Orbits

PUPILS

Learning Objectives: In this lesson,  you will learn how to apply all of the scientific knowledge you have gained in the other lessons to a real-life situation: packing your bag for a trip to the southern hemisphere.

Set the scene:

You have been selected by the United Nations to represent your school at a conference about children in South America.  You must pack your suitcase for the trip immediately!

In order that you know what sort of clothes to bring with you, you must consult your FORECAST worksheet that you already completed, and recall the climate and weather forecast of the country you will be travelling to.  Pay close attention to temperature, rainfall, wind, etc.

You have a choice about how you want to do this assignment:

Option 1: Use pen and paper, or a word processor to make a list of things you will bring with you, and then write a paragraph explaining why you chose the items you did.  Remember to mention the climate and weather forecast in your essay.

Option 2: Use pen and paper or a graphics package on the computer to draw all of the items in your suitcase, and then write a paragraph explaining why you chose the items you did.  Remember to mention the climate and weather forecast in your essay.

Good luck on your journey!
