This unit of work focuses on seasonal changes on
the earth. We will be answering questions like, 'Why do we abandon our
heavy coats when May comes along? Why does it get dark so early in December?
What would I wear if you were going on a safari in South Africa in October?
To answer these questions we need to understand
how the position of the earth and sun affect the seasons people experience in
different parts of the world. We will be learning about the orbit of the
earth, how the earth rests on its axis, and how the northern and southern hemispheres
do not share the same seasons.
We will have an opportunity to discuss & write
about our favourite weather, and take a virtual journey to a country in the
south to see what their climate is like. So put on your sunglasses (or grab
your umbrella) and let's go!
