Often images of models and celebrities are not as flawless as they appear. Photos go through a great deal of manipulation before they are printed on magazine covers. The model wears lots of makeup, special lighting is used, and any left over imperfections are cleaned up in Photoshop. This sends conflicting signals to the viewer, because this ideal of beauty does not exist.
