Poems in Memory of

9/11/01

Heroes of 9/11

by Timmy, John, Stephanie, Julia, and William

They came to rescue.

They came to save.

The people, the towers, the city

so brave.

Firefighters, police, everyday heroes

Showed courage

Showed compassion

As they toiled at Ground Zero.

Our Heroes

by Joseph, Michael, Ryan, Denise, and Maria

You are our heroes

So brave and so strong

In the face of danger

You came along.

You risked  your lives

in the planes and on the ground.

You pulled people out of the rubble

You searched for those who could not be found.

You are our heroes.

Our hearts fill with pride.

We honor your memory

With poems, flowers, and pictures

Where you died.

Hero Wings

by Steven, Monika, Elizabeth, Cindy, and Aaron

You boarded an ordinary man

On a craft with wings you flew.

Then the unthinkable happened.

Though you faced incredible fear,

Courage welled up inside you.

You took on wings of an angel.

You overcame your attackers.

You stopped the plane from its intended target.

You lost your life so that many could be saved.

You are a hero.

Your wings took you to heaven.

Two Candles

by Steven, Monika, Elizabeth, Cindy, and Aaron

We watch two candles glow.

Flickers to the sky

Remind us of the two towers

Reaching up to heaven.

You, too, reached upward

To help your fellow man.

You glow now in heaven

Like candle flames.

We light candles to remember you

Burn on forever in our hearts.
