CULTURE, CLIMATE, AND CURRENT EVENTS

 

Learning Objectives: GRADES 3-12

 

TIME FRAME: 3-6 Weeks

 

 By the end of this lesson the students will:

1.       Use Inspiration/Kidspiration or chalkboard to create a word splash.

2.       Research the country of their choice through the Internet viewing various printed information, encyclopedias and video presentations.

3.       Explore the culture, climate and current events of the selected country.

4.       Use new vocabulary to describe the country.

5.       Write a report describing some aspects of the countryÕs climate, culture or current events.

6.       Create their own class Web page about the countryÕs culture, climate and current events using Microsoft Word.

 

Upon completion of this unit students will understand:

    a.  That cultures vary around the world and that they are dependant to some extent on geographical conditions.

b.      That people from different cultures may still share similar characteristics.
