Lesson 1

Planning the project and preparing questions for the interview.

Planning is an important part of this project. Gathering information and making decisions is equally as important. Planning the project and preparing questions for the interview is the first step in making this project come alive. At this stage the student can learn how to keep records of work activities in an orderly manner; that is, the student sets up a system for storing records of work activities. The student also maintains records of work activities in a way that makes it possible to find specific materials quickly and easily.

After looking at students' completed projects (Insert Link Here) and looking at the lesson plans you can download "Planning My Project Calendar."  You can set up your own deadlines for specific tasks together as a class, or post one calendar on a bulletin board in your classroom with student expectations.

It may be helpful to you to download all the worksheets that are available to you with this project and refer to them as you read through the lesson plans. They include:

Planning My Project Calendar - Lesson 1

My Timeline Planning Worksheet - Lesson 3

Creating a Timeline  - Lesson 3

Storyboard - Lesson 4

Creating a Slide Presentation (Warm-up Activity) - Lesson 4

Final Project, Putting It All Together - Lesson 4

In addition, you will want to know what will be needed before going to the computer lab or using the computers in your classroom. If your class goes to the computer lab, collaborate with the Computer Technology Specialist beforehand in order to come up with a workable schedule. This way he or she can assist you with what you are trying to achieve during a work period and may have useful suggestions for you.
