Creating
a Slide Presentation
This
warm-up activity will allow students to create an
autobiographical 6 slide
presentation by following the format on the "Creating a
Slide Presentation.pdf." The sequence is easy to follow and
the type of slide layout follows the sequence. The use of clip
art and word art is encouraged and you can introduce the use of
transitions, sounds and background fill effects.

Once the
students complete their interview with their family member, you
will need to go over how they can pull out the most important
points of their narrative to include in their PowerPointŪ
presentation. They do not need to put the entire interview in
their presentation. So the important part now is teaching them
how to synthesize the information. This can include a
mini-lesson using the "Storyboard.pdf."
At this point
students can decide how many slides they will need to use and
how much information to include on each slide to make the
legibility and readability appropriate. If you can make the
connection that the use of a storyboard is economical in the
respect that planning out the presentation saves time and if
they in the real world "money." You can also make the
connection on how they can use the same skills they are using
here to pull important points when researching a topic for a
paper.
For the
final project, have students refer to this sheet as a
guideline: FinalProject.pdf
