The World In

A Bowl Of Soup

Have you ever gone over to a friend's house to have dinner? Did you eat something similar to what you usually
eat at your house, or did you have something different?   Depending on what your friend's family heritage is,
you might eat very different foods at your friend's house. Or, the foods might be similar, but the spices may be different, or the dishes may be prepared a little differently.

It is fun to find out how families are the same and different, especially when there is food involved!  Many young students are not aware of their rich, diverse cultures; and how their various traditions are part of their neighborhood.  As a result of this observation, I selected a book written by Norah Dooley titled Everybody Serves Soup by Norah Dooley. The primary focus of the lessons is how food connects us all.
