IT'S ALL IN THE SPICE

LESSON FOUR

Lesson Overview:

Our daily lives are changing because of increased contact with the rest of the world.  One aspect of life that is very important to us what we eat.  Today, in most communities, we can find foods and spices from all over the world.  Species were precious commodities in Antiquity; from the beginning of time the four primary  tastes - sweet, sour, bitter and salty - offer endless variety.  Spices and herbs delight us with their tastes and smells.

This lesson teaches students that ingredients in the food they eat come from all over the world. Students will find out where certain spices originated and discuss what the world would be without any spices.
