Objectives:
Explain the meaning of Pharaoh.

Create timeline of the history of Egyptian Pharaohs.

History of the Pharaohs

Procedures:

  1. Explain to the students that the kings of Ancient Egypt were called Pharaohs.

  2. Using the web links below; provide students with general information regarding the history of Egyptian Kings and Queens.

  3. List several of the most famous Pharaohs from the key words on the board.

  4. Have students select and research the lives of five pharaohs.

  5. Using their research notes, student will create a timeline of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. Sample Timeline

  6. Using a word processor, students will create a table with four columns and six rows. Students will title each column as follows: Column 1- Pharaoh, Column 2- Dynasty, Column 3- Timeframe, Column 4- Accomplishments.

  7. Have students add a title for their timeline chart.

  8. Students should list two accomplishments for each Pharaoh.

 

Assessment:

Chart Rubric based on ten point scale:

1 point for Title

2 points for correct table format

3 points for completed columns 1-3

4 points for completed column 4

Extension Activities:

 

Create a class mural illustrating the lives of the Pharaohs.

Make a poster of the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Write a biography of the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Create a PowerPoint on history of Egyptian Pharaohs.

 

Use extension activities to construct artifacts for Ancient Egyptian Museum.
