I am a 32 year old married mother of two, who is currently
on maternity leave from teaching.
I have been teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies
for the past nine years at East Northport Middle School,
which is part of the Northport-East Northport School
District on the north shore of Long Island, New York.
I have always been interested in looking for ways to
incorporate computers into my teaching. I use several
commercial simulation programs with my students and have
developed many of my own through the years. My English-Social
Studies team was the first in the district to use video
teleconferencing in the spring of 1998 to debate major
issues of the Civil War between middle schools. I have
contributed to many district publications on creating
Internet lessons.
I will have an article published shortly in The
Common School, an online publication. The article includes
suggestions for incorporating primary source documents in teaching
social studies.
