Press Release: Teachers Network Announces Gala to Celebrate 25 Years of Public School Teachers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Teachers Network Announces Gala to Celebrate 25 Years of Public School Teachers
Non-profit Organization to Host Anniversary Event, “Remember Your Greatest Teacher”

New York, August 26, 2004 -- Teachers Network, a non-profit education organization, is hosting a gala to celebrate its 25th anniversary of recognizing, rewarding, and connecting public school teachers to improve student learning. The event will take place on Thursday, April 21st, 2005 from 6-9 PM at the TriBeCa Rooftop in Lower Manhattan. Cocktails and a buffet supper will be served. Teachers Network empowers teachers to transform schools into creative learning communities so that every student will succeed and contribute to the public good. Over the years, Teachers Network has directly impacted over 1.5 million teachers and nearly 40 million students through its programs and services.

“Remember your greatest teacher. What made that teacher so good? What impact has that teacher had upon your life? Teachers Network is unique in our focus on the teacher as the key to improving student achievement in public schools. We enable teachers to collaborate in order to grow professionally. It is a privilege to have spent the past 25 years doing this groundbreaking work,” said Ellen Dempsey, CEO and President of Teachers Network and former teacher.

The gala will coincide with Teachers Network’s annual Affiliate Directors’ Meeting, in which representatives from Teachers Network’s 22 affiliate sites across the country, as well as international affiliates in the United Kingdom and Ireland, travel to New York City for three days of networking and discussing the very latest trends in public education. An estimated 200 teachers and educators from across the country and around the globe will attend the event. Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, of WCBS-FM, will emcee the event, a musical tribute to Teachers Network for its work in changing the nature of public education.
