Memoir Assignment-After reading two other short memoirs in class write your own story about your own life.

Use a memory chain or a time line to get you started and post your first draft in the discussion forum, nicenet.org under the conference topic, memoir- draft one.

• Memory chain involves starting with a favorite object and then keep listing objects that come to mind when you think of each object. Soon you will have a list and hopefully a story that goes with one or more of those objects.
• Time line involves dividing a page of lined paper in half. In the middle write all the years of your life, ie 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 of which you have a memory. Then on the left side of the paper write an unhappy memory for each year. On the right side write a happy memory for eacy year. Then choose one of the memories and tell the story.
