Class Assistants are used instead of assigning each child a job for
each day.
Instead, 2 students each day have a chance to do all of the jobs a teacher
may need such as: taking any notes to teachers to the office, handing
out
notes and papers to the class, sharpening pencils, calendar and meeting
area
routines, calling to lines up for snack...As the assistants change
daily,
each child has a turn every 2 1/2 weeks or so. I keep the class
names on 2
rings in alphabetical order and each day the precious class assistants
turn
over the rings to reveal that days assistants.
Class assistants
have special passes they can wear around their necks
if they chose. Any prep teachers who teach in the
classroom are made aware of these jobs to maintain equity
in the classroom space.
