Flower Activities

This week the homework will center on flower activities. The activities are appropriate for K-3, except as noted. Feel free to copy, cut, and paste the assignments into your own word processor for sending home (or print this page).

Day 1

Make a list of as many flower names as the children can think of tonight. Second and third graders can be asked to put the list in alphabetical order tomorrow.

Day 2

Have the children draw two pictures of their favorite kind of flower. Put a nice border around the picture using paper, crayons, etc. Mail one to a friend or relative with a letter telling why this is a favorite and bring the other to school.

Day 3

Some trees give flowers in the spring. Name as many flowering trees as possible.

Day 4

Flowers come in every color of the rainbow. Have the children bring in flower pictures of many colored flowers. Use the pictures in class to make a big rainbow by gluing them to a large sheet of paper.
