Determine the usefulness and appropriateness of digital information.
From daily lesson or unit, choose some topic or theme children can research.
Have students use an on-line dictionary to look up the topic. How much
information did they find? Write down the facts it gave. Next, go to
an on-line encyclopedia or an encyclopedia CD, look up the topic and
make a fact chart from that information source. Lastly, go to a website or nature CD and make a fact chart. Which sources gave more
information? Which was more reliable? How do these sources compare to
a book from the library? What are the benefits and downfalls of digital
information?
