It’s a very exciting time in education. Schools and systems are in tremendous flux. Teachers Network empowers and engages teachers in school reform at every level. Teachers’ voices are essential to crafting thoughtful reform agendas and implementing them well.
Peter Dillon is the Superintendent of Schools of the Berkshire Hills Regional School District.
Peter served Executive Director of Policy in the Office of Portfolio Planning at The New York City Department of Education helping to create and sustain more than 150 new schools. Peter was the Principal of The Heritage School in East Harlem, a collaboration between Teachers College, Columbia University and the New York City Department of Education. Peter taught English as a second language and social studies in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Massachusetts, Maine and in the Republic of the Marshall Islands as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Peter has a doctorate in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University where he also received an M.A. in teaching English to speakers of other languages. He holds an Ed.M. in international education from Harvard University and an A.B. in history and religion from Bowdoin College. Peter is particularly interested in resource allocation, teacher collaboration, in action research and in engaging parents and colleagues in policy making. Peter was a Distinguished Principal in the Cahn Fellows Program. Peter is also a Founding MetLife Fellow in the Teachers Network Leadership Institute.
