Question

Will incorporating students’ culture into the homework assignments in sixth grade improve parental involvement, resulting in an increase of students’ completed homework, and ultimately impacting their academic achievement?

Summary

When I incorporated students’ culture into the homework assignments this motivated the parents and students to become more involved in their homework. According to Cotton (1989) there is an overwhelming amount of research that has already proven that increasing parental involvement can increase students’ academic achievement, therefore parental involvement became the critical rationale for my action research project.
