Summary       
Phonemic awareness is an oral-aural skill that involves the ability to hear and manipulate speech sounds, and the understanding that words and syllables are made up of sequences of speech sounds.  This study will examine the challenges for young English Language Learners (ELLs) to achieve phonemic awareness skills in an English-language classroom.
