Bios
Staci Erlandson is entering her eighth year of teaching. She currently teaches fifth grade Matheamtics and Social Studies at Roosevelt Elementary School in Santa Monica. Staci earned her B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley, her teaching credential and Masters Degree from California State University, Northridge and is currently in the process of getting her Doctorate from the University of Southern California. Her educational interests include Mathematics school reform, achievement, AVID and reform issues in elementary school.
Denise Herrera – is in her sixth year of teaching. She currently teaches 4th grade and will loop her students up to 5th grade next year. She currently teaches at Will Rogers Learning Community in Santa Monica. Denise earned her teaching credential from the University of California at Riverside. Her educational interests include parent participation. Denise is also a Cotsen Fellow in SMMUSD.
Lisa Y. Johnson is in her 11th year in the field of education. She currently teaches ninth through twelfth grade multi-disciplinary subjects for students in Special Education at Santa Monica High School. She earned her Bachelors degree in 1988, and her teaching credential and Masters degree in 2001. Her educational interests include Special Education, developmental principles in the classroom, and non-traditional interventions in the classroom.
Chon Lee is in his seventh year of teaching. He currently teaches eighth grade English at Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica. He earned his double Bachelors degrees in English and Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine. His educational interests include multi-cultural studies, cultural studies, and Community Service Learning.
Eric Paul is in his eighth year of teaching. He currently teaches fifth grade at Roosevelt Elementary School in Santa Monica. He received his degree at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Eric’s educational interests include data collection, home connections and mathematics.
LaSonja Roberts is in her seventh year of teaching. She currently teaches English at Santa Monica High School, where she is also a Teacher Leader for one of the six small learning communities, known as “Houses”. LaSonja received her Bachelors degree and teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University, and her Masters of Education and Administration from U.C.L.A. LaSonja’s educational interests include Education Policy and curriculum reform.
Susan Samarge-Powell has been in education for ten years. She is currently a Coordinator of Teacher Support for Educational Services in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Susan received her Bachelors, teaching credential, Masters in Education and Doctorate from U.C.L.A. Susan’s educational interests include accessing the college pathway for all students, working with new teacher support programs, and the development of successful intervention programs for elementary students.
Susan Scheer is in her 15th year of teaching. She currently teaches second grade at Juan Cabrillo Elementary School in Malibu, California. Susan received her Bachelors degree at California State University, San Marcos and her teaching credential and masters at California State University, Northridge. Susan’s educational interests include shared leadership, teacher collaboration and reading at the elementary school level.
Carl Witt has been in the field of Education for 15 years, and teaching in the classroom for seven years. He currently teaches third grade at the Will Rogers Learning Community in Santa Monica. Carl received both his Bachelors, Masters and teaching credential from U.C.L.A. Carl’s educational interests include Social Justice Education, Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), and Differentiated Instruction. |
