Teachers Network Leadership Institute: Delaware

A Letter to All Delaware Teachers from Governor Ruth Ann Minner

Dear Delaware Teacher:

I am delighted to let you know about an important fellowship program that is available for full time public school teachers in Delaware. If you consider yourself a teacher leader, you are an excellent candidate for the Teachers Network Leadership Institute. The TNLI DE Fellowship provides teachers the opportunity to gain an increased understanding of education policy and to develop an active voice in influencing local, state, and national decision makers.

As you will see in the enclosed application, teachers selected to become TNLI DE Fellows receive a stipend of $1,000, participate in in-person and on-line dialogues with other fellows, meet with influential policymakers, and conduct action research studies in their classrooms. You can find out more about TNLI by visiting: www.teachersnetwork.org/tnli.

If you would like to be considered, please mail or fax your completed application to:

Rodel Foundation of Delaware
Attn: TNLI DE
100 West 10th Street, Suite 704
Wilmington, DE 19801

or fax it to (302) 571-1538, no later than June 30, 2005. The application is also available online. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Rasmussen with the Rodel Foundation at (302) 504-5248 or mrasmussen@rodelfoundations.org .

I spoke in my State of the State address this year about sowing the seeds of Delaware’s future. In order to ensure future growth, we must sustain the continuous improvement we’ve seen in our schools over the last several years. You, and all of Delaware’s teachers, are to be commended for the progress that has been made. With proper support from those of us in state government, I know that you will lead our children to even higher levels of achievement. I urge you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to join other teachers and share your best ideas with each other.

Sincerely,

Ruth Ann Minner
Governor
