Goldstone, Lara
I currently teach sixth grade Humanities block at the Manhattan Academy of Technology, a new, small middle school located in PS 2 on
Manhattan's Lower East Side. As a founding teacher, I have been learning a great deal about forming school policies and planning curriculum, and I am excited to continue to help our school grow and improve. I am constantly amazed by the contrast with the large middle school in Oakland, California, where I taught before moving to New York. I am looking forward working with the other educators in
TNPI to explore several issues that interest me: preparing new and experienced teachers to help students reach the New Standards, teaching students whose primary language is not English, fostering an environment of shared inquiry among students and staff, and faculty collaboration around teaching students to speak accountably. |
