Eoraptor is the dinosaur I chose which means "dawn thief". Eoraptor is the oldest known dinosaur to date. They are very small carnivores who some times ate dead meat. They lived about 228 million years ago during the late Triassic period. They walked on two thin legs which enabled them to run very fast. They are 3 feet long with light, hollow bones, a long head with dozens of small sharp teeth.

Eoraptor was first discovered by Ricardo Martinez in 1991 in Argentina, South America in the Ischigualasto Basin. The Ischigualasto Basin was a river valley used by some dinosaurs as a feeding ground during the late Triassic Period. Today it¹s a dry land that has slowly diminished by changes in the weather. The first fossils of the Eoraptor was found in the same rock that Herrerasaurus was discovered. During the past few years,three more specimens of the Eoraptor have been found, all at the same location in the Ischigualasto Basin. Eoraptor was named by paleontologists- (the study of past geological periods as known from fossils remains)-Paul Sereno, Forster, Rogers and Monetta in 1993.

From my research I can conclude that dinosaurs were the most extraordinary creatures to ever live upon the face of the earth. The fact that scientists can use fossils to determine how long they lived and the time period in which they lived in is amazing.
