You will need to have an e-mail address to write on Jan's site, so she can send the students a letter back.

Step-by-step Procedures

Objective: The students will write a friendly letter to Jan Brett and e-mail it to her.

Anticipatory Set: Explain what e-mail is, and tell the students that they will get a chance to use it today!

Input and Modeling: Use the guide above to teach a lesson in the classroom on letter writing.

Guided Practice: Have the students write a rough draft letter to Jan. Edit the letter before you go to the lab and have the students work as partners to help each other type the letters. One reads the letter while the other focuses on the typing process.
