Anatomy of a Gown..... Colonial Clothing

Duration:

    ●    Two one hour sessions

 

Objectives:

    ●    research both online and library resources for information about colonial clothing.

    ●    complete research questions using online resource.

    ●    create an acrostic poem of a colonial clothing garment.

 

Materials:

    ●    Computer with Internet Access

    ●    Library books

    ●    Acrostic Poem Worksheet       ·  How to write an Acrostic Poem Instructions

    ●  Clothing in Colonial America Web Research Worksheet

 

Vocabulary:

        accoutrements          cloak            breeches         banyan        cravat           spatter-dashes              stays            petticoat        muffs               

 

Activities:

    ●    Students will research colonial clothing using online resources as well as books in print.

    ●    Students will complete an  online research using the specified guidelines.

    ●    Students will create their Acrostic Poem. 

    ●    Students will present their poems to the class.

 

Assessment:

    ●    Observe students' participation during the creation of the Acrostic poem. 

    ●    Was the Acrostic poem format followed by the student when creating his/her poem?

    ●    Did student pairs correctly answer the online research questionnaire?
