Students will present their finished presentations to their parents during an evening of celebration.
Advance preparation and prerequisite knowledge/skills
Decorate the computer lab with state maps and the brochures that you used in Lesson 1. Each computer will be labeled with the featured state, Students will dress up and act as tour guides to their presentations.
Teacher will open the celebration by making brief comments on the students effort and procedures for viewing the presentations.
Refreshment table (outside the lab) will reflect the festive nature of this culmination activity.
Extensions
Presentations will be available for other classes to view.
Refreshments can reflect regional or state specialties.
Review cards can be placed in the lab for the parents to make personal comments to their students.
Homework
Students can write a one paragraph reflection on their project including what they learned during the process of completing the project, the strengths of their project, and how they would use the skills that they have learned in the future.
Evaluation
Presentations are focused, easy to understand, and show a understanding of the content presented. Students will be able to confidently articulate the content of their projects and answer questions about their projects.
