Lessons VIII and IX

Title: Designing the layout of the pamphlet

Objectives:

The student will make decisions on what information to include and insert on the cover page and the five other sides of the pamphlet.

Working in groups of four, each will revise and edit, with the help of each member, the information and material on the pamphlet and prepare it for its final presentation.

Students will include the following information:

                        - a cover page introducing the trip package

- description of the Caribbean Island chosen

- a map, flag and any other symbol that the student deems important ( bird, flower, etc.)

- at least three places of interest to students ( beaches, snorkeling, bike riding, hiking, amusement parks and water parks, etc.)

- at least one scanned photo or drawing

- the hotel name and location

- transportation and any special arrangements

- the restaurant names and locations ( at least one is required)

- phone number where to contact the travel agent

- travel agency name and address

 

Students will print their final projects for the display and celebration.

Materials:

Computers, printers and scanner

MS Word

URL s for the information needed (provided in previous lessons)

Cooperative learning groups

Activities:

The students will divide up into groups of two and will help each other to revise and edit their projects on the computers.

In groups of four, the students will come together to provide more constructive criticism and approve each other’s final project.

Students will be permitted to walk around the room and share their ideas and suggestions. The teacher will float and conference with students so as to facilitate the process.

Students will finalize their projects and print them.

Homework:

                Students will remind their parents to attend the celebration.
