Lesson Plan I
Title: Interview a travel agent
Objective:
- The student will participate in a discussion and fill out K. W. L.
chart with the help of a small group of classmates.
- Students will practice their not taking skills.
- The student will use his\her questioning skills to ask pertinent
questions that will assist in his\her research of the role of a travel agent
and usefulness of a travel brochure.
- The student will learn the role a travel agent and the use of a travel
brochure in planning a trip. This knowledge will be demonstrated in the
description given in a short paragraph.
Materials:
- Guest travel agent
- sample travel brochures
- comfortable room arrangement for interviewing guest
- notebooks or pads and pencils
- KWL chart
Activities:
The teacher will ask the students if they have done any
traveling. Depending on the answers given the teacher will elicit information
from the students as to how they made their decision to travel, who helped
them plan or get tickets, where they visited and hoe much did it cost.
They will fill in a KWL chart about a travel agent.
Based on what the column " want we want to know" has
written in it, the students will develop the questions that they will
ask the visiting travel agent. They may work in small groups so as to generate
many questions.
Students will interview the guest travel agent using the
questions prepared in the morning session.
Students will take notes on what was discussed and
discovered.
Students will view travel brochures with the travel agent.
Homework:
Students will write a short paragraph, using their class
notes, about the role of the travel agent and the use of the travel brochure.
