illustrators: Create mission charts, drawings, diagrams, and patches.
presenters: Share the mission's findings with other mission teams.

3.  Click on the name of the mission team you chose. Use the resources on your team's resource page to answer the questions on the chart below:

1.  What is the purpose of the mission?
2.  Which astronauts were part of this mission? Download a photograph of each astronaut and label each photograph. Write a brief biography of each astronaut.
3.  Describe the space vehicle involved in the mission. How many astronauts did the vehicle hold?
4.  How fast did the space vehicle travel?
5.  How long was did the mission take from liftoff to touch down on earth?
6.  What payload was aboard the space vehicle?
7.  What experiments were done during the flight?
8.  What experiments were done at the mission's destination?
9.  What problems occurred during the mission?
10.  How were any problems solved?

4.  Plan a future mission. Include a detailed description of your space vehicle, the mission's destination, the number of astronauts and what the role of each person will be, the purpose of your mission, the project's payload, experiments and activities that will be performed both in flight and at the mission destination.

5. Using a word processing application such as AppleWorks or Microsoft Word, write a persuasive essay convincing the President and Congress of the United States to budget funds to sponsor your mission. Use the form for a persuasive essay found here. Include your thesis statement whichttells your reader what the essay is going to be about. Prepare an outline arranging the arguments in favor of your proposed mission in the best order. Conclude your essay by emphasizing how your arguments for your projected mission are logical and how they support your request for funding for your mission. Make a memorable final statement.

6.  Draw a labeled diagram of your space vehicle using a drawing and painting application such as Kidpix or Superprint.

7. View the astronaut patches on your mission resource page. Design an astronaut patch for your proposed mission.

8. Try some fun activities.

9.  Design a space mission game using a drawing and painting application. It may be in the form of a memory game. Create about forty cards so that each card matches only one other card. Your game may be in the form of a board game. Label each space on the game board and create cards that describe an event that occurs on the mission.
