Lesson 4 - Arthur Meets the President

 
Objective:

Students will be able to:

 * complete a story evaluation

 * create a pamphlet on Washington, D.C.  

Materials:

  Worksheet (form to follow)

  Created Book 

  Pamphlet 

  Print Shop 

  Internet 

Activities:

1. Complete a story evaluation on Washington, D.C.

2.  Students can participate in a fun writing activity by creating a pamphlet on Washington D.C. (ex: places to visit, places to eat, exciting shows to see, etc...)

3. Students can use various search engines to collect information on their animal such as:  Google, Yahooligans, Fact monster and Ask Jeeves. 

4. Students can use Print Shop to make a pamphlet with the following information:

* List three facts about Washington, D.C.  

* New words I learned

* What was the most interesting thing you learned about 
Washington, D.C. ?

* Why is weather important?  List three things.

* Places to stay in Washington, D.C. and where they are located

* List any other information you would like to tell museums, restaurants etc...

* Download a map of Washington, D.C.  

*** At a Learning Center, you can have questions that the students have to answer when they are finished with their work.***

Evaluation:

Students completed story evaluation

Students completed writing activity

Students completed pamphlet

Home Learning:

Students will write their own story about Arthur Meets The President.

Students will go online to do a comprehension activity, print out the worksheet and complete it.
