Patterns - Here, There & Everywhere

 Lesson Three

Background Information

A pattern is an arrangement of shapes or colors in a design with a repeated quality. Patterns are all around us; recognizing patterns is an essential mathematical skill which provides the foundation that allow students to be critical thinkers and good problem solvers. Patterns can be introduced throughout the curriculum through the development of mathematical concepts as well as art, music, and movement.  In this lesson students create patterns with more than one unit cell.
