Lesson 6: Natural Resources

Objective:  Students will locate and identify Florida's natural resources, major crops, products, and industries.  They will determine their importance in the growth of our state. 

Activity:  After investigating our state in previous lessons, students will design a travel poster promoting their favorite place. (ex: Cape Kennedy, St. Augustine, the Florida Keys, Everglades National Park, etc.) using desktop publishing.  
Learn about Florida history at  Florida Museum and University of Florida/Museum

The students will include reasons why it is a favorite spot and what makes it special. 
Students can also include charts and graphs (using charts and graphs applications of software programs, graphics and scanned photos of their favorite places.

Evaluation:  Students will share their published poster depicting their favorite Florida place and explain its value or importance to our state.

Extension Activity: Make a Brochure

Homework: Interview parents about their favorite spot. Ask the name of it, where it is, why it is so special, and what is a nearby attraction.
