The House of Lords lost most of its power in 1911, and now its most important job is to revise legislation. Elizabeth II is the head of the state. A cabinet of senior politicians called ministers really governs the United Kingdom. The House of Commons is the most powerful house. The House of Lords has limited power. Most of its members inherit their seat. The Prime Minister of England is similar to the United State’s president.
