Our Country’s Symbol- The American Flag

The United States flag is sometimes called “Stars and Stripes.” It has 13 stripes which stand for the 13 original colonies. The 50 stars represent each state. The colors stand for courage (red), purity (white) and justice (blue). 

Facts about the American Flag: 
1) Raise it quickly up a flagpole and bring it down slowly.
2) It should be flown only from sunrise to sunset. 
3) It should never touch the ground.
4) It completed its first trip around the world in 1790.
5) It first flew on the moon in 1969.
