Education Organization Wins Prestigious Top Industry Honors For Innovative
Videos Highlighting Successful Strategies
NEW YORK, NY (February 24, 2003) -- The Teachers Network
(www.teachersnetwork.org) CD-ROM, Videos for Teachers: Successful
Teaching Strategies in Middle and High School Classrooms has been named to CHOICE Magazine's 39th annual Outstanding
Academic Title (OAT) list. Chosen from more than 22,000 entries, the
CD-Rom, produced by Teachers Network, the non-profit education organization
that connects exemplary teachers around the country, was among the top
3% of submissions selected by the CHOICE editorial staff. Winners are
picked for their excellence in scholarship and presentation; significance
of their contribution to the field; and for their innovative, first-time
treatment of a subject

"This CD-Rom exemplifies the best practices from some of the most
extraordinary teachers in the country and provides an accessible mentoring
program for educators, enabling them to adapt specific lessons for their
own classroom use."
Videos for Teachers: Successful Teaching Strategies in Middle and High
School Classrooms, a collection of mini-documentaries
that go into the classrooms of exemplary teachers to find out just what
works, was produced for Teachers Network by three-time Emmy and Peabody
award winner, Carole Rosen. Rosen, formerly vice president of Original
Family Programming at HBO, has recently expanded her distinguished television
programming career to include producing and directing a series of streaming
videos for Teachers Network. Titles in the award-winning collection
include: How Are You Smart?, demonstrating ways to tailor instruction
to help at-risk students draw on their intellectual strengths; Romeo
and Juliet: The Theme of Love and Literature in Art", exploring
the theme of love through personal experience and reading Romeo
and Juliet for students whose second language is English;
and Fishbowl: Using Action Research to Achieve Standards, presenting
approaches to teaching struggling readers by MetLife Fellow, Matt Wayne.
