Thank you to all applicants for your interest in the Teachnet Institute. We received nearly 200 applications, which made our decision extremely difficult. The 21 members below reflect New York City educators
from every borough, every grade level, nearly every subject area, with both veteran educators and new teachers in our ranks.
The criteria of the selection committee included the following: originality and creativity; clarity and completeness of application; description of hands-on technology used by students; access to teaching
with technology in the classroom; evidence of student-centered learning; showed knowledge of information literacy; demonstrated an understanding of current educational technology tools and innovations.

About the
Teachnet Institute
The Teachnet Institute will be an influential group of New York
educators who will: collaborate with members on technology projects,
solutions, and communications; write and publish technology curricula;
advocate for the use of technology in education; and, come together as a
group for the exchange of innovative ideas. We will also have the
opportunity to hear from leaders in the field of educational technology,
participate in a global Teachnet blog, and explore collaborations with
educators from Teachers Network's affiliates in the U.S. and Europe.
Teachers Network has launched the Institute to create a professional
social network for New York City teachers, combining both online and
face-to-face communication to foster 21st century skills for educators.
Because so many technology educators have been working in isolation,
this Institute will offer opportunities to share ideas, collaborate with
like-minded colleagues, and to keep our skills current and innovative. |
