My Story Worksheet
The week you will write about your life, from your point of view…an autobiography!
Some important things to remember as you work on your
essay.
·
Before you prewrite, think carefully about the important events of
your life. Where and when were you born? Have you experienced things in your
life which stand out?
·
Prewriting is important! If you spend enough time writing down
words and phrases that remind you about important parts of your life, the job of
writing a rough draft will be a lot easier.
·
A tip for prewriting… For an autobiographical sketch,
create a timeline of your life and jot down your ups and downs, or times
in your life which you can remember and want to document.
·
In writing, be sure to include plenty of details bout important
events in your life. Use the 5 W's strategy (who, what, where, why, when). Be
sure to tell why each event was important to you.
·
Be sure to include a beginning (with a catchy lead), a middle, and
an end.
· Remember to write paragraphs that are well developed. These contain a topic sentence, 3-5 supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.
