Lesson 1
Instructional Objectives: Students will be introduced to the stages of the writing process.
Time Required: 45 minutes
Advanced Preparation: Preview the web site. Print out the writing process poster or let the students print it themselves.
Materials/Resources Required: Internet access
Procedures and Activities: Discuss the writing process and the steps necessary to write a good paragraph. Visit the following site:

Lesson 3
Instructional
Objectives: The student will write a narrative that demonstrates an
understanding of a literary work. The student will write a summary that contains
the main idea of the reading selection and the most significant details. The
student will recall the major elements in a piece of literature.
Time
Required: 45 minutes
Advance
Preparation: The teacher should preview the web sites ahead of time and print
out the storyboard template and a scoring guide
for the students.
Materials/Resources
Required: Internet Access
Procedures
and Activities: Let students create storyboards for their assigned chapters. A
storyboard is a graphic, sequential depiction of a narrative. Students recall
major events of the story, then illustrate the events in the squares provided.

Homework:
Students
will compose their rough drafts for their chapter summary at home.
Evaluation:
Give students a rubric for a self-assessment to follow when they are composing

Lesson 4
Instructional
Objectives: The student will create a simple document using electronic media.
The student will edit and revise a manuscript to improve the meaning and focus
of writing by adding, deleting, consolidating, clarifying, and rearranging words
and sentences.
Time
Required: One or two 45 minutes sessions
Advanced
Preparation: The teacher must review the students' rough drafts and give
productive feedback before the students can begin the next lesson.
Materials/Resources
Required: word processing software
Procedures
and Activities: Using a word processor, allow students to revise their rough
drafts. Save files as text documents.
Evaluation:
Students will be assessed using a writing rubric. Sample rubrics can be found

Homework:
Students should prepare a drawing of their planned animation sequence for their
chapter. Students can sketch out a rough idea of what they want their animation
to look like.

Instructional
Objectives: The student will use technology to enhance learning, increase
productivity, and promote creativity. The student will use productivity tools to
produce creative works.
Time
Required: Two 45 minutes sessions
Advanced
Preparation: The teacher must become familiar with the animation software that
is being used.
Materials/Resources
Required: animation software
Procedures
and Activities: Students will create animations that show an important event
from their assigned chapter. A variety of animation software is available. Star
Office Suite 5.2 by Sun Microsystems includes imaging software where students
can create animates gifs. The
