This is a CultureQuest on Manga.

According to Jeffrey's online Japanese/English dictionary found at: http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/jis/dict, Manga, which in Japanese is written 漫画まんが means (noun) comic; cartoon; (place name). Manga, which has swept across not only Japan, but is rapidly becoming popular in more countries as well is something many Americans also enjoy and don't even know it's manga. In our site, we briefly discuss and provide links to different topics relating to Manga.

Manga, which in Japanese means "comic"  goes beyond the boundaries of what Americans understand as "comics" or "cartoons". It would be an injustice to limit manga to an American definition of a comic book. Check out this site and you’ll find out why.
