Activities
Teacher will read one of the books listed for unit and discuss the following with students:
What went wrong in this story?
What went right in this story?
Why is is important to identify fire hazards in the home?
Why do we need smoke detectors?
Activities (cont.)
Show students a smoke detector, take out the batteries and replace them showing the students how it is done. Discuss how often batteries need to be changed.
Students will complete "We Keep Our Families Safe" worksheet.
Homework
Students will draw a home floor plan and place an X in rooms containing fire alarms.
