1.Why is the peanut plant so unsual?

 The peanut plant's flower grows above ground, but then the fruit grows underground.

 2. What are peanut seeds called?

 Peanut seeds are called kernels.

 3. How tall does a peanut plant grow? 

 A peanut plant grows about 18 inches tall.

 4. What happens after the flowers loose their petals?

 The petals fall after one day and then a stem called a peg grows down and into the soil. 

 Then once in the soil the peanuts begin to grow underground.

 5.  How long does it take for peanuts to be ready for harvesting?

 Peanuts take from four to five months to mature enough to be harvested.

 6.  Is the peanut a pea? Or is it a Nut?  Explain.

 The peanut is a pea.  It comes from the family of legumes which is the family of beans.  Peanuts grow in pods just like peas or beans.  Unlike the peas and other beans that grow pods above ground, peanuts grow in pods underground.
