Lesson Tip
This survey can be taken on any invention of Bell, Edison or Marconi.
Objectives
- Learns to construct, describe, and interpret a variety of graphs
and tables
- Learns to make a graph on the computer
Materials
Paper, pencil, computer
Procedure
- Students will take a survey of at least 20 people on their use of
the radio.
- They will brainstorm for the questions to be asked or
they may
ask the following:
How often do you listen to the radio?
Never, one-three times a week, four-six times a week, seven to nine times a week,
more
When do you most often listen?
Morning, noon, evening or night
What type of program do you listen to?
Talk, country, easy listening, rock, classical, rap, other
- The students may work in groups, create spreadsheets and
then plot the results on graphs.
Evaluation
Each student will be graded by the individual survey he/she completed
as well as a group grade for plotting the results on a graph.
Homework
Ask twenty people their radio preferences using the questions
above.
