Have you ever received a letter in the mail? If so, you know how exciting it is to open the envelope and read the message inside.  Writing a letter can be a lot of fun too.

When you write a letter to a friend or relative, it is called a friendly letter. In a friendly letter, you can write about a new pet, a vacation you took, or a big event in your life.  When you write to someone you don't know, it is called a business letter. A business letter is more formal than a friendly letter, but it can be just as fun to write. You can write to someone famous, like an author or an athlete, or to the owner of a business to express your ideas.
