Lesson Two

prism          

A solid geometrical shape whose ends have the shape of a closed polygon, like a triangle, square, or hexagon.  A prism of glass or other clear material used specifically for dispersing a beam of light into its spectrum.

cone     A shape whose base is a circle and whose sides taper up to a point.
cube          A three-dimensional shape with six square or rectangular sides.
pyramid   A polyhedron having a polygonal base and triangular sides with a common vertex.
cylinder   A three-dimensional figure with two congruent bases in parallel planes.
sphere    A three-dimensional closed surface such that every point on the surface is equidistant from the center.
box 

A three-dimensional object defined by an origin (that is, a corner of the box) and three vectors that define the edges of the box meeting in that corner.

dimensional 

A line is a one-dimensional object; a plane, like a sheet of paper with no thickness, is a two dimensional object; and ordinary objects such as tea cups are three-dimensional.
