Inline with Symmetry

 Lesson Four

Background Information

Symmetry refers to the correspondence in size, form, and arrangement of parts on opposite sides of a plane, line, or point.  In nature symmetry is not always perfect, but the terms are still applicable.  This lesson focuses on bilateral symmetry, students will learn that a line of symmetry divides a shape into two identical parts, and in other cases, there is more than one - as with eight sections of an orange. In this lesson students observe, describe and log in detail organisms that have symmetrical attributes.
