Objective: The students will learn about insects.
Materials: Insect Learning Packet, Roberto, The Insect Architect by Nina Laden
Introduction: Introduce
the story and read Roberto,
The Insect Architect by Nina Laden. Talk about
creatures in story. What were they? Insects. Introduce
students to insect characteristics. Pass out Insect
Parts Worksheet and have students cut our three parts from construction
paper. Give out assorted art materials (glitter, googly eyes, pipe
cleaner, etc) and have students create an imaginary insect. Use to
decorate the class along
with plant activity from lesson for remainder of unit.
Assessment: Print
out Insect
Learning Packet for each student and have them complete in class and as Home
Learning.
Home Learning: Continue Insect
Learning Packet.
Extension Activity: Make a snack with students from Bug food.
