Design a Company Brochure

The purpose of this lesson is to teach the students about advertising through the use of brochures and to demonstrate their importance in visually selling a company’s products.

Components:       Composition 
                           Computer Applications

               

Objectives:         Write in a variety of modes

                          Use a desktop publishing program

                          Perform basic text formatting including font, move, insert, and delete

                          blocks of text 
                          Use spell check

Materials:           Computer with brochure making capability, digital camera and scanner
(optional)

Procedure:    1. Go to start.

                     2. Click on Microsoft Word icon.

                     3. Click on File.

                     4. Open new document.

                     5. Click on File and page setup.

                     6. Select margins tab.

                     7. In the multiple pages list, select book fold. 

                     8. Select amount of desired space in the inside and outside margins.

                     9. In the sheets per booklet list, select the number of pages to be included.

                    10. Select any other options in the page setup dialog box.

                    11. Add text, graphics, headers or footers, and other elements to your

                           document as usual.

                    12. Type in text.

                    

Evaluation:       The twelve steps of the procedure will be retyped and placed in random

                       order. Make copies and distribute to each student. They will re-write the

                       steps in the proper order in 85% accuracy.


Homework:     Design a brochure on the computer following the above twelve steps.

Extensions:      Make a personal brochure of your life. Add interests, hobbies, school, etc.

                       Make a brochure using photos taken with a digital camera and scanned

                       into the document.
