Objectives: Write in a variety of modes
Use technology as appropriate in all phases of the writing process
Materials: Computer, Microsoft FrontPage or other web-making software
Procedure:
The class will search for various web pages relating to businesses.
After observing how the pages appear,
they will work in groups and design their
own page for their “business.”
This will include articles about the store, clip art, links to other pages and sites, sales, coupons, and anything else that would be of interest.
When finished, upload it to school website.
Create A Web Site
1. On the File menu point to
New, and then click Page or Web.
2. In the New Page or Web task pane, under New, click Blank Page.
3. Type information on the page and add clip art and color.
4. Click on Preview at bottom left of page to see how page will look
when it is online.
Evaluation: Students will create their own (simple) website on a computer depicting
themselves and their families.
Each site will contain five articles, two
clip arts and a background
color.
Homework:
Construct a
personal website (handwrite it) describing interests,
school, family,
etc. prior to completing the evaluation portion of this
lesson.
Extensions: Act out a commercial in class to advertise the business.
Dress up as your favorite toy.
Create a robot to help with advertising.

Field
Trip: Plan a field trip to a local
store to observe how it is run. Make sure to
discuss events of field trip with store manager.
