Materials: computer, PowerPoint Presentation software
Procedures: The students will create a PowerPoint presentation
on the adverse effects of
smoking. They will work in groups and each one will develop a separate
page.
Directions for PowerPoint
Click Start
Click Program
Find Microsoft Power Point
Click it
Click on Blank Presentation
Click O.K.
Choose page
Click O.K.
Type information into each page
To add pictures, click on the icon that is on the top of the screen showing a
man
Click on it and choose from the selection. It can be moved by clicking on it and
moving it.
To add a title, click on a slanted "A" that is in the bottom of the
screen. Then choose the title and type it accordingly.
The color can be changed by clicking on title.
A box will appear and several
icons will be shown.
Click on the one with paint spilling and a paint brush.
Click effects for special effects.
View Student-created PowerPoint presentation
Evaluation: Students will present PowerPoint presentations to class and will be evaluated using a PowerPoint Checklist.
Homework: Write an anti-smoking slogan or design an anti-smoking logo to share with the class.
Extended Activities:
Give an oral presentation using the PowerPoint Presentation
Using desktop publishing create a brochure to be used in a future health class based on the
PowerPoint Presentation
Search online for other PowerPoint Presentations to compare and contrast the one made in class. View PowerPoint presentations created by other students at Student Projects
