Lesson Plan- Creating a Multimedia Presentation
Component
Student will effectively use multimedia and technology in presentations.
Objectives
- Divide students into small groups, with each student have a specific job to
complete data collection and produce multimedia project: writer, editor, graphics,
digital photos, scanner, layout, and typist.
- Have students use a variety of
electronic media, such as the Internet Yahooligans
Wild Weather,
NOAA Weather and NOAA
News, information services, desktop publishing, software programs to create,
revise, retrieve and verify information.
- Students can use Kid Pix,
PowerPoint, HyperStudio or other multimedia programs to present information.
- At the start of the Weather Watchers Unit, have students design a weather
cover for their weather unit. Teachers can use Rubistar
for assessment purposes. Students should place all information
collected and work completed into this portfolio. Portfolio can also contain
disks with work, saved URL's of weather web sites and digital photos. This
information can all be used in the student-created multimedia presentation.
- Vocabulary: clouds, water droplets, water vapor, atmosphere
How to Make a Kid Pix Slide Show (Watch How to Make a Slide Show on
demonstration disk)
- Have students pick their topic
- Write down eight to ten main points
- Use a Script Worksheet to write ideas
- Create a new folder to store text,
clip art and graphics
- Save work and name it
- Number pictures in the order
they will appear in the slide show
- Make a title screen
- Make pictures for
the slide show
- You can draw pictures, use stamps or import pictures
- After
creating pictures, load pictures on slide show moving vans
- Remember to save
- You can add sound by clicking sound icon
- Add transitions using
transition icon
- Save
- Show your work to classmates.

Classify cloud types: cirrus, cumulus, stratus and nimbus and draw
illustrations of each or print out cloud pictures from weather web sites
